The Golden State held a cradle of promise.
In the belly of America’s second-biggest city, we would rise.
Opportunities and adventures, that’s all we were chasing.
We weren’t pioneers.
This trail has been blazed by countless brave and foolish souls.
Yet, we stabbed south filled with conviction.
Our Los Angeles stories couldn’t be more different.
One rose and embraced the city.
One felt crushed under the weight of asphalt.
One had to remain.
One had to escape.
In an instant, you were gone.
Left in a puddle on the living room floor.
Puzzle pieces scattered to the wind.
I picked myself up.
Some assembly is required.
A telephone would offer comfort.
Yet, it would fail to recreate your presence.
Miles between us, writing a story from afar.
Be good to each other,
Nathan
