At the center of every album is a musical thesis. "Florasongs" by The Decemberists is an EP better than most. EP's are often treated as B-sides or throw away songs, but not in the hands of this band. Here, they act like poetry in motion. Each line written here is more confrontational than most of their other songs. These are lyrics of frustration and angst. Within five songs, they manage to say more than most modern albums. This poetry, this attack, and these in your face lines are representative of the power possessed by this band. Here, they once and for all prove EP's don't have to be throw aways. They can actually mean something.
Be good to each other,
