No more remakes! Right, "Vacation?" Now, you should know I consider the original “Vacation” movie to be comedy gold. It and a hand few of other movies are the standard by which I judge all comedies. For me the jokes are well timed, the story is relatable and the frustration palpable; everything a movie like this should be. The remake tries its hardest to stand on its own. The storyline tries to sprinkle in some originality, but too often mirrors the original. The jokes don’t have the same punch. In my opinion, they far too often went for crude and foul language in an effort to make us laugh. This is always a warning sign to me when seeing a movie. While the story is still relatable and frustration still present, it fell short of the original film. So, I proclaim no more remakes. Some of the best writing in the world for both dramas and comedies is happening on our televisions. I am baffled why Hollywood finds it necessary to continue churning out unoriginal thoughts. Instead, challenge us. Make us laugh in new ways. Make dramas that spellbound. Make us dream again.
Thanks for entering my world,
