At the center of every album is a musical thesis. Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” is an iconic production. It is this production value that is at the very heart of the thesis. As a listener, I can only imagine how taxing creating an album such as this must have been. With sweeping arrangements and lyrics that make you listen, there must have been times when the boys in the band thought about moving on to something else, or worse at each other’s throats. Again, as a listener, I am glad they stuck it out, because they captured something magical here. This is an album best listened to in the dark. It makes you imagine yourself on the face of the moon viewing our “pale blue dot” or perhaps you are occupying the dark side staring out into the vastness of space. Either way, this album transports you someplace rare. In the process of creating something here, Pink Floyd engineered an album that has withstood the test of time; an album that is still taking us places.
Thanks for entering my world,
