"A Brilliant Young Mind" is the most real and raw look at the genius behind Autism I have ever seen. This is where I should be honest. I’ve heard a lot about the Autism Spectrum and the diagnosis seems to be more common now than at any other time in history, but I know very little about it. In part, that is why this movie was so powerful. Now, I know the diagnosis is a spectrum and everyone behaves differently, but as I watched Nathan battle his own emotions, his genius and his awkwardness in public situations, it’s as if a whole new world was revealed to me. For a couple of hours, I got to walk in someone else’s shoes. I was fortunate enough to walk away with new perspectives and understandings. At the end of the day, this is what really good cinema does.
Thanks for entering my world,
-Nathan
