At the center of every album is a musical theis. Ray LaMontagne's "Supernova" is filled with the same somber music we all have come to appreciate. This time around though, there is an attitude which defines every track. For many, this is a departure album. Ray's sound at times has seemed depressed, but the thesis of this album is about a sense of hope. Each song reveals the sun on the other side of the rain clouds. In those moments, we find rebirth and maybe even reinvention. I don't necessarily think either of these things are a bad particularly when it comes to music. Art should be about the challenge and that task is found here.
