"Stars Wars: The Force Awakens" plays it safe in an effort to please fans and the true Supreme Overlord, The Walt Disney Corporation, while at the same time positively progressing the story. Fans, hungry for some retribution after Episodes I, II, and III, will leave the theatre pleased with a story that perfectly blinds together both the past and present. This chapter also opens the door to a new world of possibilities. Ultimately, the only failure of the film is its unwillingness to take chances. Beyond one big surprise, which I won’t spoil here, there isn’t much new. We are still in the midst of a battle between light and dark, planets are still being blown up, Jedis are still being trained, pilots are still making impossible saves, and light sabers are still buzzing. Yet, we will be back, because this film has awoken something within all of us who love movies; the power of imagination.
Be good to each other,
-Nathan
