At the center of every album is a musical thesis. While artists rarely produce albums to receive awards, the thesis at the center of “Sound & Color” may do just that. Within every verse, chorus and song there is a raw and palpable love. In your time on this earth, you’ve been the subject on both ends of love. You’ve been hurt and, hopefully to a lesser degree, you’ve hurt. You’ve worn your heart on your sleeve and allowed yourself to be vulnerable. You’ve learned love is about vulnerability and letting someone in to your world. In each one of these states, you are seeking attention from your partner, validation for who you are and what you hope to achieve. Thousands and thousands of bands have tried to tackle the issue of love. Hell, maybe every band or group that has created music together has tried to take on love. This attempt by the Alabama Shakes is different. It is real and relatable. It is the sound and color of a love you’ve known your whole life.
Be good to each other,
-Nathan
