There are well intentioned bloggers and writers out there who propose the idea that if you "Follow These Ten Steps" or "Do This One Thing," your life can be amazing all the time. These claims are false and we all know it.
Life is an amalgamation of highs and lows. Both of which deserve to be treated with appreciation. More often than not, we operate somewhere in the middle between these two extremes. I say extremes, because, hopefully, you don't spend too much time occupying either.
The lows are challenges. Some are caused by outside forces. Some are thrust upon ourselves. We are defined as human beings by our ability or inability to overcome these changes. If everything was amazing all the time, I am led to believe you and I wouldn't possess much worth.
In the highs, we find our reward. Here we are presented with the fruits of our labor. In these moments, we come to realize the challenges are worth it. If everything was amazing all the time, would these moments matter? Would they even register on our radar?
Most of the time, life should just be about maintaining. It shouldn't be about challenges or reward. When we choose to push forward, we should expect lows and hopefully a well regarded high. My hope is that you respect the process and give proper appreciation to the journey. If you do, I suspect more amazing moments in your life.
Thanks for entering my world,
-Nathan
