The Sounds of Los Angeles

A car wreck on 170.

Someone’s life violently altered forever.

The sound of sirens forces me awake again.

Violence erupts in some suburban neighborhood.

Blood staining pavement as a precursor to makeshift memorials.

The twirl of helicopters overhead steals my attention.

Like salmon in a crowded stream, we clog highways.

Busy people attempting to survive in this concrete jungle.

Car horns never move traffic along.

Cranes dot the skyline of downtown Los Angeles.

Cathedrals to capitalism for as far as the eye can see.

Construction interrupts my train of thought.

Not all is distracting in this world.

There is relief to be found on distant shores.

Waves crash on sandy, sunkissed beaches.

Be good to each other,

Nathan
