"Love Is Strange" is a modern day love story. In it John Lithgow's character and his long time partner played brilliantly played by Alfred Molina, finally marry after it becomes legal in New York. After the celebration, Alfred Molina's character, who works as a music instructor at a Catholic school is fired from his job. He is told it is against the churches' teachings that he be married to a man. Facing the loss of half their income, the two decide to split up and move in with family until they can get back on their feet. 

This movie raises some fantastic questions to be pondered. The supreme question being: Who is to judge what is love? The two men in this story have lived their lives in a committed relationship. They've worked hard. They've supported each other. They've supported their families. They did all that was asked of them. I think when people consider homosexual relationships, they often become obsessed with the sex. What they miss out on is the relationship. This movie, better than most, pulls back the curtain on the mystery.
