Musical Thesis: Radiohead "The King of Limbs"

At the center of every album, is a musical thesis. It took me some time to discover it here. I am afraid to type these words out loud, but "The King of Limbs" is my first Radiohead album. I know (leave your comments of disbelief below)! With that said, while listening to this album several themes surfaced for me. First off, an overarching pain and depression are heard in almost every song. I am still working through the album to pinpoint the source, but it is there and in your face. Second, the album is emotional. It has a hum to it. It is background music that forces you to listen. While the topic may take some time to discover, it has a way of drawing the emotions you are wrestling within your own life out. Third, this album is a push back against the unknown. My knowledge of Radiohead is small, but what I do know is their pioneering spirit. The core of this album is no different. They take you places, as the listener, you may be uncomfortable with, but they seem to be the most gentle of guides. Finally, this album is quiet. There aren't a lot of big rock cords here. It could easily get lost in the background, but the magic is its ability to make itself known. I don't know if I will dig deeper into the Radiohead catalog, but I know this was a good start for me.

Thanks for entering my world,
