Built for the Times
I find we often underestimate are capabilities. We assume we couldn't do something or overcome some obstacle. We doubt a reaction that cannot be known until our backs are against the wall. I believe we are built for the times.
We are built to survive pain and disappointment. These things are a part of the human condition. They are as real as life itself. They teach us to survive. They provide lessons that cannot be learned except through hands on experience. Pain is nothing more than a tunnel with light and life on the other side. Sure, the journey may be long, but just keep reminding yourself, "this too shall pass."
I think we are built to last. Our species is made for moments of fleeting impossibility. We are made to march over astonishing obstacles and tumult. We always find a way forward. We push with all that we have.
We are built to rise above. There are plenty of forces in this world possessing the sole purpose of holding you down. At times, we may succeed at paying them no mind. At others, they have our full and utmost attention. Positivity shall always drown out the darkest moments of negativity. We were always meant to find our strength and rise above.
We were built to try until there isn't anything left to give. We are a force to be reckoned with and respected. We give and give. We offer up the best of ourselves in times of tragedy. We act as guiding lights to our fellow man. Often, we are our better angels. Often, all that is required is effort.
Finally, we are built to learn lessons. In my 31 years of living, I have found inspiration and on more than one occasion had my heart broken. Without a doubt there are things I regret. At the same time, I regret nothing, because those setbacks or moments when I could have done better were phenomenal teachers. They provided lessons unlike any other. Learning the hard way is real. Almost always, it proves we are built for the times.
Thanks for entering my world,
-Nathan
